Luffy Learns the ability to Gomu Gomu no Mi to Gear First
The anime series One Piece follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy as he strives to become the King of the Pirates. Luffy Uses Gear First First in Episode 35: The Upper Ruins of Shandora! Wyper The Warrior!
The episode starts with Luffy in his first confrontation with the Shandian warrior, Wyper. Luffy and the Straw Hat Pirates have been searching for the lost continent of Skypiea, and they’ve traversed the Upper Yard and now enter the Upper Ruins of Shandora. Luffy and Wyper are evenly matched, neither one able to gain the upper hand. So, Luffy decides to take Wyper by surprise by using Gear First for the first time.
Using Gear First in later Episodes
Luffy continued to use Gear First throughout the One Piece anime and manga. In later episodes, Luffy defeats formidable enemies including Enel, Crocodile, and Blueno with the technique. Gear First is one of Luffy’s most powerful abilities, allowing him to rapidly deliver powerful punches which can inflict serious damage.
At the end of the series, Gear First is one of the strongest attacks Luffy has at his disposal. In the climactic fight against Blackbeard in the Final War, Luffy uses his Gear Second and Gear Third techniques in addition to Gear First to defeat the incredibly powerful opponent.
Luffy first uses Gear First in Episode 35 of the One Piece anime series. This technique quickly becomes an essential tool in Luffy’s arsenal and is used in some of the most memorable moments of the show. By combining Gear First with his other Gear techniques, Luffy is able to defeat some of the toughest enemies throughout the series.
